Song of the week: Frank Sinatra - The Way You Look Tonight
Most of therosser.com's viewers have a self-esteem that's: Kinda in the middle, with 7 votes.
August 18, 2002 - oldies but goodies
How bizarre... I just updated for today, and the first line was "Well, I'm searching for a new guestbook. This one has been down for almost a week, and I can't take it any longer." And guess what? I clicked on the guestbook, and it works now. Coincidence? It can't be. Aside from that, it's a brand new week, with a brand new poll, and of course a brand new song of the week. Why Frank Sinatra, you ask? I dunno, for some reason I've been on this oldies kick for the past couple days. All I've been downloading lately has been Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Paul Simon, and Burt Bacharach. Don't ask; I don't really know. Other than that, I don't have much to talk about. Another week of band camp starts tomorrow. I can't wait!
Speaking of band camp...

Image of the Day

Oh yeah, you guessed it: The Euclid High School Panther Marching Band. On the front page of Cleveland's own Plain Dealer. Pictured is Ted McCoy and Evan Farkas, doing a 'pressbox' during Emperata Overture.. The article quoted Miss Tizzano as calling band camp "two weeks of Hell Week." ... At least our director has a good attitude about it.

Gaming Site of the Day - games.msn.com
I've strayed away from PopCap and have started visiting MSN's game zone more often. There's some cool stuff there, especially in the Kid's Games section.

August 19, 2002 - i like hot dogs
I'm not sure how I managed it, but I somehow deleted last week's archive. That kinda sucks... But I'll get over it. Another day of band camp today. Oh, and I should be hearing about the job I applied for sometime during this week. So cross your fingers. I just hope that my schedule doesn't get too congested once school starts up again. Yeesh! School starts in 11 days. I still have 2 books to read and like 303,295 papers to write. Ah well, I know I'll get it done.

This one's from the cellar... It's a picture of the first photograph ever taken. It was taken by Joesph Niepce in 1827. (this is one of my less interesting images of the day)

Website-Related Quote of the Day - My Sister Amy

"Yeah, I'm sure my friends will want to look at your site.
'Hi, I'm Ross. This is my website. I have a crush on Betsy. I like hot dogs.'"
August 20, 2002 - bombs, g-strings, and larrys
Not much to talk about today. News is slow during band camp I guess. I've been listening to a lot of country music lately... And in movie news, I watched "Hiroshima" today. It was pretty stupid... I mean, it was so predictable. Ah well. I still think they should have had a scene where Harry Truman picks up the red phone and says, "Drop the bomb." But they didn't. That's the news for now. Stay tuned for more news at ten to the hour, every hour... right here on MTV.

That's my friend Chris... and yes, he's wearing a G-string. "Whose g-string is it?" you ask? It's Kara Koran's... And yes, that's Katy Koran's sister (the 13 year old).

Site Of The Day - Larry's Website of Analysis
Yep, it's true, Larry has a website now. I've read his entries, and although I really don't think like him, he's one of those guys I respect, because he actually thinks things through and he's not afraid to disagree with people. Anyways, check out his site.

August 21, 2002 - bust a movie
Well, my friends and I watched all the movies made by baws films inc... and "baws films" consists of me, larry, and steve-o. But anyway, I really enjoy making movies, and part of me really wants to go into that in college. But on the other hand, I know that it's not gonna be a steady job with a steady income, and I really am gonna want to have money when I fully go into adulthood. So we'll see. I bet I'll end up majoring in film, minoring in music, and end up having a steady good-paying 8 to 5 job to support my hobby of filmmaking. Oh, and speaking of things that require creativity, Larry and I worked a little bit more on "this is the title of the song", one of Battlefield Rumpelstiltskin's upcoming hits. Alrighty, more tomorrow.

"What's that? I think it's a lawn mower." This is the image from the front of Scott Lynch's birthday card. (Can you tell I'm runnning out of images of the day?)

Quote Of The Day - Epictetus

"First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do."
August 22, 2002 - and the band played a tuna
Today was the last day of official band camp. So now all that comes between me and starting school is my summer reading assignment. I told myself I'd finish it before school starts, and that's what I intend to do. Anyways, as far as my life goes, things are still good. I was voted as band president yesterday, which I'm pretty psyched about. I still don't intend to be in band in college, though... if anything, just a non-school sponsored ensemble. I just find that people take it too seriously in college... like to the point where they think they're all sweet and act like asses about it. Sure, I like playing in band, but when everyone is so serious about it that there's no fun, then there's no way I'd want to be in it.

Wow, that's the second time this kind of thing has happened. In my original update for today, I had written, "Oh, and in other news, I'm 94% sure that I didn't get the job at the library. Ah well, maybe next  time." And sure enough, the lady from the library called me today to tell me I got the job. I start September 4th. Anyways, that's all for now.

I always thought tunas were real small, like no bigger than two fingers. But apparently, they can grow to be pretty big. It doesn't really matter to me what size they are, though, considering that I hate tuna anyway.

Country Music Lyric Of The Day - "You don't know what love is" by Lonestar

You don't know what love is
If you think that I can fight this feeling
And keep my true heart from revealing everything inside.
You don't know what love is
If you hear me say your mine forever,
Feel our two hearts beat together,
And think you can resist.
August 23, 2002 - eat lots of hot dogs!
The preview show went well last night, and after that, we went out to Friendly's. And on the way home, I was pondering a bit in Steve's car. I was thinking how sometimes, I feel like I can't die or something. Any of you feel that way ever? Like if the car crashed, somehow I'd leave, and maybe even without a scratch? I mean, of course that's not true, and I'd die just like everyone else. But I think it has to do with my bewilderment about death. If when you die, you're completely done, then I can't imagine it. I can't imagine not having emotion, not thinking, not knowing I'm there. Death is something I don't really understand and only will when I die and am not able to understand. However, I guess I do have a few ideas about the afterlife... so I think I'll ramble about those later. The band goes to cedar point today.

Check out the date on that one! "8-26-02"... why, that hasn't even happened yet! I wonder.. If I go there at precisely that moment three days from now, will I witness this very event happening?!?

Inside Joke Of The Day

"What?"
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Huh?"
"Who?!?"
"What do you mean, 'who?'?!?!?"
"What did I mean?"
"I don't know!"
"Yes you do!"
"DAH!!!!!!"
