The three men sitting here tonight
Have very different lives.
The first is rich, the second poor;
The third one has two wives.

Old Thomas Jenkins started off
With quite the noble plan,
But soon his love for capital
Corrupted this old man.

And Robert Porter once thought, too,
That money matters most,
Until he found a love most true
And told cash "adiós".

Sir Greg O'Capp met love as well,
But he met more than one;
He spent life as a pious monk,
Then chose to wed two nuns.

Though each man writes a book of life
Distinct in ev'ry way,
In all accounts the tale is told
That change is here to stay.
