USC – TC celebrates IE Days
The Industrial Engineering Council, in collaboration with the Industrial Engineering Society, organized the Industrial Engineering Days 2003 in Talamban campus last Sept. 22-26.
The five-day affair, which bore the theme “Continuing Regional Development through Enhancement of IE Capability” started with an opening mass celebrated at Rigney’s Hall (TC AVR) on Monday, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by faculty member Eng. Phyllis Sia.
Various activities were showcased during the second and third days of the event, among them chess and scrabble tournaments, film showing, inter-school volleyball, and basketball leagues with the students of Cebu Institute of Technology. “Daring the Brain,” an inter-school quiz bowl, highlighted Wednesday’s event, with USC beating CIT’s circle of wizards, 180-140. On Thursday, IE seniors had their marketing fair at the second-floor of IE wing, exhibiting wide assortment of product advertisement from foods, photo centers to beauty shops.
The weeklong celebration culminated on Friday night with a glitzy Mr. & Ms. IE 2003 pageant, featuring 12 gorgeous males and females of USC and CIT. In the end, Charles Benedict Mendoza, and Marie Jeanette Tiu, both USC students, surfaced winners of the event.
