I have tried to identify some of the individuals in the pictures. I have not been able to identify everyone, if you recognize yourself and want to be identified, just let me know and I'll make the addition. If I've mis-identified anyone, I apologize, again, let me know and I'll make the correction. |
Carolyn Bullen and possibly Roger Sevigny,
Class of '62. [I apologize for incorrectly identifying these two
people in my original post. Thanks to Brian Babb for the corrections.]
I'm not certain, but this looks as if they may not have actually been on Feller property. The background doesn't seem quite right, and I'm wondering if this photo was taken beside the swimming hole up at the end of the farm beyond the sugar shack that the boys used to frequent on warm, sunny days. It was just beyond Feller's boundary and we called it the second sandpit. Was there a first one? I can't remember. Anyway, there were two shallow ponds adjacent to each other that had been dug out presumably because some one wanted the sand for something, and had subsequently filled up with water. They were deep enough to take dips in, but were shallow compared to the quarry which was on the other side of the road from Feller, and can be seen in several pictures elsewhere. We used to strip down to our skivvies (perhaps bathing suits for the more modest?) and swim in the ponds, usually to come out covered with leeches. I also remember it as a nice place to catch some rays. Just on the far side of the ponds was a wood through which there were a lot of paths. We used to split up into teams and play "chase". Which was our version of team hide-and-seek. I think there was a home base and the object may have been to get more team members safely "home" without being touched, than the opposing team did when it was their turn to be chased. I may have been confusing this with a game I played the two summers I was at Lake Selby and may have some of the details wrong. If any one remembers this game better than I do and wants to write a short set of rules for me, I'd be happy to post them. |
Carmen and Friend.
I believe that the friend is Jay Reid. I thought this when I saw the photo, but was not certain enough to say so. Since posting this, I have had two independent confirmations. This was taken on the Girl's side between Massey Hall and the monkey bars. As I wrote this I was reminded of the large vegetable/flower garden my parents maintained at the edge of the field that was just to the right of this spot. It brings back memories of fresh peas and beans right off the plant, and much, much weeding. |
Carmen again (I think) and the Georges sisters. I think it's Mona in the middle and Evelyn is closest to us. I don't recognize this location but it's quite a scenic view. The dam and small waterfall in the background are also rather nice. |
Here's a shot of the front porch. Nurse Mottishaw, Brian Babb and I believe Carolyn Paradis are in the background. I often received this look from the person in the foreground, over some perceived transgression, so this one brought back a lot of memories. |
What is there to say? The picture says it
all. |
The girls are Evelyn, Joan Chamberlain, and Mona. I loved the lilac bush in the background. This gorgeous bush bloomed spectacularly and filled the air in front of the school with its glorious fragrance in early June, just in time for graduation. |
senior play 4/17/62
This is obviously one of the skits from the class of 62's senior reception. I only recognize Brian Babb wearing what I hope isn't a real leopard skin cape, but fear probably is. JC Girodo is standing beside Brian, and Wendy Todd is kneeling behind him. Other skits from this era used to be posted on the MSN Feller site. The skit looks rather non-PC but I must admit that I don't remember any of the details, although surely I must have been present to witness it. |
