Social Issues

I have constructed this page in the the hope that I will develop a main research question. Data will be collected through real-world observations, interviews, and documents.

Briefly looking at sites involving low-wage service workers brought me to the AFL-CIO web page. The information about America at work is endless. Of greatest interest was an article about author Barbara Ehrenreich. She describes her attempt to survive as a low-wage worker—an experience that shows why too many full-time workers can barely pay the rent. Her research went beyond observing. Barbara Ehrenreich went to work as a waitress and a hotel housekeeper. Race, class, and gender also played a role in her attempt at seeking employment.
