HI :) My name is Kathi a.k.a. Smew. If ya hadn't figured it out by now, I'm a military wife. An Army wife. My husband and I and our 2 children, plus 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a hamster are currently stationed at Ft. Riley, KS. Yeah I know, I have a house full!! (one of the cats and the hamster are inherited pets from a friend that just moved, I just can't say no) Anyway, my husband is a Combat Engineer, loves his job, loves being in the Army. But if you ask him (and I've heard him say it many times) what the hardest job in the Army is, he'll tell ya flat out and simple, that his wife's job is the hardest. An Army wife, or any military spouse has the hardest job there is.
Everytime my hubby has to leave for the field, or deployment, or for anything, my family and his always tell me how hard he has it having to go out there and do his duty for this country. Don't get me wrong, I love my hubby dearly! And I think because he's a soldier, I love him even more. I have nothing but respect for him and for all soldiers. Yes, soldiers do have it hard, sleeping in the rain and cold, eating MRE's for days on end, leaving his children and me behind is just a few of the sacrafices they make for us.
But just for a minute, I want you to think of the military spouse. Think of the heartache and the day to day life we lead as you read through the following poems. Hopefully you will gain some insight into the spouses lives. And the next time you see the news, or read the paper, or hear about our soldiers being sent overseas for some reason or another, that night when you start to pray for our soldiers overseas, you will also say a little prayer for the spouses left behind.
