Can we say, "poser?"

I just saw the most hilarious article on Rolling Stone's website. (Click here to read it.) According to the article, A.J. McLean of the BS Boys is trying to make himself over into a rock star! Excuse me for one second.... *fit of hysterical laughter*...*returns to desk & wipes tears from eyes*. Anyway, our pal AJ has come up with an alter ego for himself, similar to what Garth Brooks did when he tried to go rock. AJ, as Johnny No Name, gave a lackluster concert a few months ago in LA. Rolling Stone was not impressed. It appears that AJ/Johnny No Name couldn't seem to get away from his old BS boy material. According to the article, he spent most of his show doing B-sides of BS boy material, cheesy ballads, and a few severely edited rock songs. (The crowd was pretty young.)

In fact, by the end of the show, everyone had forgotten about Johnny No Name. AJ performed "Hey DJ Keep Playin' That Song" (an early '90s hit from a pop group with an even shorter shelf life) and "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." I ask you, does this make any sense? AJ said he was trying to get away from his BSB persona, and then he goes and performs a BSB song, and at the end of the show, brings on fellow BS Boy Howie to sing "Brick House" with him. All I can say is LMAO! It shows you how very little the BS Boys know about rock. Note to AJ: "Brick House" is not a rock song, it's a disco song. Disco covers are the type of thing they'd expect from a BS Boy like yourself, so why the hell did you include that song in your show? It makes no sense! That and bringing Howie on - what were you thinking? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dis Howie (this time), but would Johnny No Name be caught dead with the likes of him? I think not. Get some drama classes or at least play some RPGs and learn something about staying in character, man! I gather you did a pisspoor job of that. BS Boy ballads are nowhere near rock. But I have to say, the most half-assed idea of the whole show was the accent! Half Nashville, half London? Are you nuts? I kinda hope you keep up the Johnny No Name thing too, because it gave me a really good laugh.
