Maybe N'Sync isn't so bad after all...

Until today, I didn't think there was anything worse than N'Sync, Brit, the BSB, or their partners in crime. But then, I heard the two most heinous pieces of music to hit the airwaves: Madonna's cover of "American Pie" and an elevator music version of the Macarena. I'm sorry, I know Don MacLean has said that he likes Madonna's version, but I think it's an absolute sacrilege. There are some songs that were perfect the first time and should not be covered by ANYONE and "American Pie" falls into that category. I like most of Madonna's music, but this time she really blew it. (Note: I did however, laugh my ass off at Weird Al's parody.)

As for the elevator version of the Macarena, I don't think I need to elaborate much. Whether you love the original version or hate it, you probably agree that turning it into elevator music is a really bad idea. It's even worse than a boy band. By the way, I heard this in Wal-Mart, which kinda figures considering what they've already done to the music industry. (They edit the "offensive" lyrics off of albums sold in their stores.) The next time you're in Wal-Mart, listen very carefully to the PA and see what other musical atrocities they come out with.

This next one isn't so much bad as it is strange. I was in Russian class the other day and our teacher played us a tape he'd picked up in Russia. One of the songs was called "Bye Bye Bombay" and was done by an Indian guy. Picture Apu from The Simpsons doing a rap song. That is what this song sounded like. I thought it was hilarious but some of the hardcore rap fans in the class hated it.
