*Star Wars Official Page Chat With Jake Lloyd Transcript*

StarWars: Jake Lloyd has just joined us.

StarWars:

StarWars: Jake, thank you for being with us tonight

JakeLloyd: Cool! No problem! Thanks for inviting me!

AskLucasfilm: Darth-Chicken says: Rick and Jake, did either of you get to take any mementos from the set? If so, what?

JakeLloyd: I got to keep my Jedi Knight costume. I don't think I will get to wear it much, though - I've pretty much grown out of it!

RickMcCallum: Who gave you permission, Jake, to keep that costume?

JakeLloyd: You did!

RickMcCallum: I did? Hey, I want it back! *grin* I didn't keep anything, but I wanted to.

JakeLloyd: I wanted to keep everything, from the props to the actors!

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-DarkKnight1138 says: Jake, what was the highlight of your Star Wars experience?

RickMcCallum: Working with me! LOL

JakeLloyd: My favorite part was working with such talented actors, and such nice guys....and Rick!

AskLucasfilm: Viceroy-Mufasa says: Were there any "easter eggs" in the movie? (Like SW posters in the background, or references to other Lucas stuff?)

RickMcCallum: No, but if you see the film, over and over again, there are many hidden delights in the Senate Rotunda.

JakeLloyd: I know where one is!

RickMcCallum: Don't say anything, Jake! *grin*

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-Saxman717 says: Hi Jake! As you went about acting the part of young Anakin Skywalker, was your performance affected at all by knowing who Anakin would later become?

JakeLloyd: No, because for me, Darth Vader has always been a good guy. He had so many chances to kill Luke Skywalker, and never did. And he has a good heart, because he saved Luke, and killed the emperor, which was enough redemption right there.

AskLucasfilm: Darth-ILoveNatPortman says: What was the Tunisian desert like?

JakeLloyd: It was really fun! But hot, you know? A really good experience to have, but not to relive. It was nice to have the experience, though.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-MasterGorsh says: Mr. McCallum, what was the most nostalgic and/or emotional scene to film, both for returning cast members like Anthony Daniel's, and new ones like Jake and Natalie?

RickMcCallum: Well, I think the most emotional scene is when Anakin leaves his mother, and I think the most emotional scene for Anthony and Kenny Baker was just being back together after 16 years.

RickMcCallum: I have to run now for a flight...I will see you all soon!

JakeLloyd: Bye, Rick!

RickMcCallum: Bye everyone! Thanks for the great questions! And I will see you all on Monday!

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-Sazerac says: Jake, if you could meet anyone in the world who would it be?

JakeLloyd: I would really like to meet Will Smith, and I would like to see Harrison Ford again. I got to see Harrison at one of the press screenings, but would like to chat more with him. I have always wanted to meet Will Smith for a while, and he sounds like a nice guy. I admire his work in films he has done - I saw him in "Independence Day." I would also like to meet Mark Hamill, too.

AskLucasfilm: R2-VW says: How intense was it working with all those OLDER actors?

JakeLloyd: It wasn't very intense, just a very good experience. I learned a lot, and respected them all for being so professional, and being very good actors. The experience was a lot of fun, and that is what I am in the business for.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-THX1138 says: What practical jokes/pranks did you get to play on the set?

JakeLloyd: I froze Rick's cigarette case. I don't like it when people smoke, because it's not good for them, so I figured that would stop him. They have these large machines on the set for cooling, and I used one to freeze it.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-ambassador7 says: Jake, how do you like being an action figure and do you collect them?

JakeLloyd: I do like being an action figure, it's really fun. I don't really collect them, but I think they're really cool.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-THX1138 says: What was the first scene you filmed for "The Phantom Menace"? Were you nervous?

JakeLloyd: The first scene I filmed was where Jar Jar and I are sitting in the lounge room. I was nervous, but then everyone is on the first scene. But I got over it quickly, and within two minutes, it was gone.

AskLucasfilm: Darth-Trunks12 says: Jake, was it hard for you to make a movie of this status at such a young age? And how do you feel about making history at only 9 [almost 10]?

JakeLloyd: It wasn't very hard. It's just a regular film, you know? It's just a film, where I went in to act and have fun.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-snydermatt says: Hi, Jake! Do you want to pursue acting as a career? If so, you're off to a good start! BTW, you were great in "Jingle All the Way!"

JakeLloyd: Yes, I want to pursue it as a career. I want to put all the money I make towards college. I really want to study physics. I think I would like it.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-Zacho says: Jake, were there any parts of making the movie that you disliked?

JakeLloyd: No, except for leaving the set at the end of each day. I couldn't wait to get on the set each day for filming.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-Ben68240 says: Jake, who is your favorite new character besides Anakin Skywalker?

JakeLloyd: Jar Jar was. Jar Jar is funny and a very nice character. I also like Sebulba.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-Oliphant says: After all of this, will amusement parks seem dull?

JakeLloyd: The excitement of this film is always more than going to an amusement park. Actually, I enjoy doing any film more.

AskLucasfilm: R2-kat says: Jake, what is the most exciting thing you have been able to do with this movie?

JakeLloyd: The most fun was just working on the film, working with such talented people and all the actors.

AskLucasfilm: Jedi-Music4me says: Mr. Lloyd, how old were you when you started acting?

JakeLloyd: I was about 5 when I started, almost 6. My first job was a commercial.

AskLucasfilm: TalkCity says: Jake, thank you for being with us tonight! Is there something you would like to say before we sign off for the evening?

JakeLloyd: Thank you for all the questions, and I hope you guys enjoy the film! StarWars: Thank you all for joining us this evening.

StarWars: ..

StarWars: And a special Thank You to Rick McCallum and Jake Lloyd for chatting with us!
