As Always, Big Hick will open the debate and put out the opening comments...
Ahh, Darth Vader vs. Darth Maul. This would indeed
be and interesting duel. The Father of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa
versus the murderer of Qui-Gon Jinn, Vader's former trainer. No doubt this
would be one of the greatest lightsaber contests the
Star Wars galaxy has seen since the Vader/Luke duel of
Return Of The Jedi.
We would have to take many things into account. First off
let us show Vader's advantages and weaknesses. Vader is
definatly more experienced and his training would far
exceed Darth Maul. His raw strength, and strength provided
by the suit would no doubt overpower Darth Maul. How Vader
would fare against a lightstaff is yet to be seen.
Darth Maul has speed and youth on his side, he is not
weighed down by heavy armour and equipment making him
more nimble and agile than Vader.
As we have seen, both fighters choose to use the Force
in battle, whether it be to throw their opponents into
a reactor pit, or to throw equipment about the chamber.
The latter of the two would be the greatest advantage,
however. Maul may be able to keep Vader at bay with the
ligthstaff for a short period, Vader would then bring the
Force into play, flinging nearby equipment and whatever
is at hand at his horned opponent. This would bring
Maul's advantage down. He would no doubt slow his attack
as he begins to dodge and parry the various projectiles being
thrown at him. At the same time, Vader would push on his
assault and eliminate Maul. If Maul did, however, show an
ability to counteract the assault of the projectiles and still
continue his raging assault, Vader would merely need to
extend a simple gesture and crush Maul's throat. Either
way, Vader would be the victor in the battle of these
great Sith Lords.
Ok, here's my views on the whole Vader vs. Maul thing. First of all, Vader(Anakin) has the highest midi-chlorian count out of all the jedi according to Qui-Gon(on a side note i i think it would be interesting to know Lukes midi-chlorian count) . I would guess that this Vaders midid-chlorian count also stands higher than at least a majority of the Sith. So this would probably mean that Vader can harness much more power than Maul. I think that Vader at his prime could easily take Maul or ANYONE else (including Palpy and Luke). I dont think anyone could possibly make any kind of attempt at Vader. Vader was the ultimate force user. He was of prophecy and legend. You cant mess with destiny and fate. If this fight involved Vader at his prime, i think it would be extremely short and fast. Even though we know very little about Maul, we do know that he was only an apprentice, which means he never learned the full extent of the force. I think that the only way Maul would have a chance of giving Vader a challenge is if Vader were still a Jedi apprentice, but even then...who knows. Maul was cut down by an apprentice.
