MUSIC ACCORDING TO DJ MIA
BREAKING NEWS.....BREAKING NEWS........The Clinics, one of St. Augustine's strongest bands, is currently set to leave town on January 26, this reporter has learned. Although the band had been rumored to be leaving town for months, a final date has been set. Orginally, they had planned to move to New York City, however, after some appearent heavy soul searching (and much discussion over BEAM and Cokes) the band has decided that after a short stay in Austin, TX, their new home will be.....SAN FRANCISCO. The band started out together as the power pop quartet known as SIMON ORNE. After a member left, the three remaining members Paul, Brent, and Hillary went through a few lean months, attempting to redefine themselves (two name changes) and their music (now a bit harder). After settling on their sound and a new band name, THE CLINICS, they recorded a new album from inside their house with the help of a local producer. Thier vigorous work paid off with the album "SPIRT JACK". Here are a few sounds from that album. The first is cut is my favorite song off the album, entitled "Perfect Pistol". Here's another: "POWERPUSS". You can visit the band at their website. Tether's End is still in the studio (going on two months now) attempting to finish their forthcoming album tentatively titled "Art vs. Commerce". Here's a clip of "Charming". For updates on when and where they are playing, and other pretty cool stuff, you can visit their website. Oh, and here are a few "older" clips from the band. "Armchair Rebellion" and "Slipping" . Here is another one"Armchair Rebellion" Oh, I have recently been enjoying a band from Gainesville called "Slack Season". Visit their website. Ok, a few things about this band. 1, Mick Hale the newest member of the band (at least a year ago, anyway,) really isn't as mean as he looks in most of his pictures. 2, John, the lead singer, is NOT as serious as he looks in his pictures. 3, if you are going to buy them drinks at a show, Dino and Bill can really whack them down, so get out the platinum card!!! 4, listen to all the songs, especially my favorite"A Girl Like That". Ok, enough music news for now, I am Kurt Loder...oops, sorry about that, I thought I was legit for a second! Enjoy music, and remember local music is good for the SOUL!!!
