ELEKTRIK MOTORFISH-From An Underwater Hell In Space

Elektrik Motorfish sounds like a mix of "The Real Thing" era Faith No More with a hip-hop feel and a little funk thrown in. All three songs, "Fish Outta Watta", "Outta The Blue", and "Black Oreo Dori" may not show the best of spelling skills, but but still have a very energetic bounce to them. If you like some of the weirder stuff like Faith No More, write to:

Elektrik Motorfish-From An Underwater Hell In Space, Redhouse Recording (Lawrence, KS)

Living in a small town has it's obvious disadvantages, but there'a also a plus side. Bands coming out of those backwater bergs are sometimes unbelievable because because of all the time they spend rehearsing since there isn't anything else to do. Such is the case of Elektrik Motorfish from McPherson, Kansas. This three piece consists of Brian Taylor (guitars, lead vocals), Kenny Becker (drums), and Eric Mulvaine (bass). Using a combination of styles that could be called aggressive, jazzy funk/metal, their music has a uniqueness that's quite captivating. Inventive hooks and rythym changes abound. Vocals on some songs have a certain Zappa-like quality. One song that's sure to be replayed is "Fish Outta H20." While listening to this freshman effort, you just get the feeling that that seeing these guys live would be an unforgetable evening. Maybe they'll venture to the big city someday and prove me right.
