From the first episode (entitled "The Kid") we saw the relationship between Kid and Lou progress. He was the first one to discover her "true" identity which had been masked by her uncanny ability to dress like a boy! We witnessed from the three wonderful years of the show's running how these two characters could defy all of the odds and make true love persevere. (In spite of some of those times when we got frustrated with both of them for being childish at times! :):))
Although there were moments when we thought that Lou might fall into a pit of confusion and teeter between Jimmy's tender heart and Kid's tender affections, through it all her loyalty and relationship with Kid proved to us where her true love really was. There were also a couple of cases in which we thought that perhaps Kid's affections might be turned to other women (ie. Doritha or Samantha), but somehow it all came back around.(Thank goodness!)
After turning down two marriage proposals by Kid, she finally accepted in the episode "The Sacrifice" and they were joined together in the final show "Till Death Do Us Part." We know that these two characters (bound from the start) lived happily forever after! From where I'm sitting, that's what I'd call a wonderful ending! :-)
