Trivia:

  • When Alice goes into the theater, there is a poster for Reefer Madness II: The True Story (1985), New Line Cinema's first success, as well as a poster for Hairspray (1988).
  • The 2 gravestones visible behind Kristen Parker's & Roland Kincaid's are: Donald & Nancy Thompson (characters from Nightmare on Elm Streets 1, 3 & 7).
  • The sandcastle form of the Elm Street House is visible on freeze-frame before it explodes.
  • The name of the diner where Alice works is called the "Crave Inn", a reference to series creator Wes Craven.
  • Also on the background wall of the theatre entrance, there is a poster of Renny Harlin's previous movie Prison (1988).
  • Director Cameo: [Renny Harlin] a student in a classroom.
  • When Dan and Kirsten go to the hospital, there is an announcement on the PA requesting a Dr. Shaye, a reference to Robert Shaye, producer of the Nightmare Series.
  • Not only did actor Tuesday Knight co-star in the film, she performed the theme song.

Goofs:

  • Revealing mistakes: When Alice is fighting Freddy in the church, she burns a hole through his body. Not only is it obvious that the hole isn't actually there but it is a cartoon effect superimposed over Freddy but when the camera goes away and then comes back, there is a panel of brightness at the top left hand corner of the effect so you can't see the Freddy jumper clearly.
  • Continuity: Kristen's hair in the beginning basement scenes.
  • Continuity: After Sheila smears the blood on her paper, it's wet. But in the next shot the blood stain is dried and has changed formation.
