Brushing and FlossingNow we know that all of you kids brush your teeth, and we're sure that most of you floss, right? But to really protect your teeth from cavities, you need to brush "the right way". Even though your dentist has probably already showed you how, we would like to show you again. And since we can't show you a big plastic mouth full of teeth; like the one your dentist has; we are going to use pictures!
It is very important that you clean EVERY tooth, especially in the back
where it is harder to reach. But don't brush too hard. Use a gentle, but
firm circular motion while brushing.
In the front, brush up and down. Don't forget behind the teeth!
A good rule is to brush for at least 2 minutes. You might want to try using an
egg timer. It works good and it can make brushing more fun! Don't you
feel like brushing your teeth right now? Don't forget to floss.
It is so important to floss your teeth before you brush.
You have to floss between EVERY tooth!
It takes practice to get the hang of it, but once you got it, it's very simple.
If you find regular floss too tricky to use, try a "floss stick". They
are made especially for kids, they are easy to use, and work just as good as regular
floss. Take good care of your teeth, eat healthy foods, and visit the dentist
regularly, and you will always have a beautiful smile!
