Rare Natural Phenomenon

We, the city of Brantford, have a wealth of unique and rare phenomenon
known as a "Perched Fen Prairie".
It is a sloped marsh area located on the north-western side of the city.
Unique because only 2 such known examples of eco-systems exist in Ontario!!
A local environmentalist - Duane Brown -
is challenging the city of Brantford
to protect this rare phenomenon.
Of course, city engineer - Alf Gretinzinger -
ensured that the municipality's plans have
factored in the "perched fen" and other important natural areas.
This writer has first hand experience and knowledge
of what the city tells you
and what the city actually does!!
But that's another story in itself.
This "perched fen prairie" is home to
unique plants and the pickerel frog,
which is an uncommon-to-rare species in Ontario.
It is believed to have been formed
12,000 years ago
along the shores of glacial Lake Warren.
The Brantford "Perched Fen Prairie" consists of
1.3 hectares of prairie plants with southeastern, wet prairie affinity.
It is the only example of this vegetative type in Ontario and contains 16 prairie indicators.
It is situated upon a hillside,
and supported by a constant discharge of calcareous water from the slope.

What exactly is a "perched fen prairie"?
I've tried researching Canadian content on this subject
but alas, I only found American detail.
