(written by Michelle) Jess sat quite uncomfortably on the chair across from Nick and Brian. Ever since the Pepsi incident the two of them and Jade hadn't stopped talking. The thing that was making Jess uncomfortable was the fact that neither of them had noticed that they were leaving her out of the conversation. Jess coughed loudly for the second time in the past 5 minutes, hoping to get noticed, but her desperate attempts failed miserably. Knowing that neither one of them would notice if she left, Jess quickly got up and exited the living room, heading for her own bedroom. Once inside she immediately shut the door to drown out the laughter that was floating up the steps. The full moon was shining in through her balcony doors, inviting Jess to step out and enjoy the warm night.
The weather down here was so much different than that of Philly, it was something Jess was liking. But her cluttered thoughts weren't on the weather right now, they were on Jade. Jade had gotten everything again. Downstairs were two of the world's sexiest guys and now the were both fighting for her attention. If things were on schedule with the way Jade worked, she would begin choosing her favorite and her next fling. One of them would leave broken hearted and the other would leave hopeful, only to know what his friend felt like in a few days.
These things really bothered Jess, but she did her best not to let them show. Jade played with men like a child plays with toys; after she gets bored she gets new ones. To Jess, it seemed as if Jade was afraid of getting too close to someone, like she was afraid of really loving someone. It wasn't that Jade was a manipulator, she just didn't know what she wanted, plus she was still holding out for Mr. Right. But Jade was happy for now, she could have any guy she wanted, no matter what the cost.
For Jess things were much different. Jess had been in love once, but he had left with her heart and she vowed never to be so stupid again. His name was Brett, and he was a football player in their old high school. Jess had been so shocked when he asked to take her to a dance, but she had accepted. Over the next few months she spent a lot of time with Brett and was convinced she was in love with him. The night before graduation they had gone to a party together, Brett ended up getting drunk and cheating on Jess. That wasn't the only thing he did to her. It turned out that he had been using her to do his homework and things like that. Brett had really changed Jess's mind about alot of things, love the most important.
But now Jess was hurt, but this time it was Jade who was doing the hurting. Jess had long ago accepted the fact that Jade was the one all of the guys wanted, but it didn't make it any less painful. Every once in awhile it would be nice if guys would at least look at her every now and then. Heaving one last sigh of depression, Jess retreated to her bed for a night of troubled sleep.
