Chapter 15

(written by Michelle)

"Jade!!" Jess yelled, running to her friend's side. "Oh my gosh, are you okay?" she asked, arriving at Jade's side. Jade didn't answer for a fewseconds, her mind swirling as she tried to focus on her friend's voice. "I....I...think so, I'm not cross-eyed am I?" she asked Jess, attempting to stand up. "Actually I think that fall made things better," Jess said, laughing. "I'm sorry, I thought Brian was behind the door," came a deep voice from behind the two of them.

Jade turned around to find the front door hanging open and a tall man standing before her, the setting sun casting shadows all around him. Jade thought she recognized him for a second, but then shrugged it off as just a side effect of her fall. "It's ok, she's taken worse hits before," Jess answered for her. This was one of the times Jade was glad to have Jess on her side. Jade knew that Jess would always be there for her, no matter what. The events a few years earlier had proven to her just how far Jess was willing to go for her.

Slowly, Jade shook her head, trying to get her mind to focus again on her best friend's words. "I'm going to take her upstairs to lie down, she looks a little woozy," Jess told their guests while escorting Jade to her bedroom. Jess flashed the BSB one of her great smiles to reasure them, especially Kevin, that Jade would be ok. "Jess, I'm fine now, I was just a little dizzy. Come on now, let me go back downstairs and meet the rest of them!!" Jade screamed again at Jess, who was trying her best to get Jade underneath the covers so she could rest. "Just sleep for an hour then, I'm sure they'll be here then," Jess tried desperately to appease her friend. "Not with you down there they won't,"Jade told Jess, stubborningly shutting her eyes.

Jess pretended not to be hurt by her words, but Jade always found a way to get under her skin. She stood in the doorway listening to Jade fall asleep, all the time thinking about going home to Philadelphia where she belonged. They had only been in Orlando for 2 days, but already Jess missed her old small bedroom. Things weren't like she had expected here, she could have been this bored at home. That was a lie, at least at home she could be training with Eric, here all she did was watch MTV and scramble out onto her creaky balcony.

But then again, she wasn't giving it a fair chance, the BSB were downstairs and this was for her best friend's job, things could beworse. How much worse though? Well, ever single one of the BSB could fall madly in love with Jade. For the time being only Nick and Brian had a crush on her; they could be living in a roach motel, for right now the only bugs in the house were the ones in Jade's hair, (hahahhhaahaha, had to get ya Lacy!!); and everyone in town could know her and expect her to be boring like everyone else she knew did, at least here she had a chance to make a clean break. Defiantly, Jess made a pact with her self to be as outgoing as Jade and to enjoy it. After all, tomorrow was going to be their shopping day, the day Jade had promised to help reform Jess, she might as well get started on her new attitude right now. What better subjects to try it out on then 5 guys who had no idea who she was? Taking a deep breath, the new Jess started herascent down the stairs to attempt to fool her 5 guinea pigs.

"Sorry it took so long, Jade can be a little surly," Jess apologized. "Hey no problem, we were just about to leave anyways," AJ told her, gettingup. Jess began to panick, if they left who would she use? She had to get them to stay. "Why are you leaving so soon?" she asked, batting her eyelashes at him. Howie stepped up to answer next, "We just came over to get B-Rok and Nick, we have an interview with Disney in a half an hour, so we need to get going."

Jess sighed, it was useless, who was she kidding? She was never going to be anyone but plain, old, Jess. Trying to hide her disappointment, she walked them to the front door, "Thanks for coming, stop in anytime. I'm here just about all day." Great Jess, sound a little more pathetic why don't ya? Jess thought as she watched them leave. Kevin turned around and came jogging back up the sidewalk, "I was wondering if I could come back later to see how she's doing, I feel really bad." he asked with a look of pure concern in his eyes. I knew it, another one falls to the power of Jade. "Sure, that would be no problem, you know where we live," Jess smiled.

She closed thedoor on his smiling face and sunk to her knees, sobbing the entire time.Things were never going to change, she was going to be the boring one, hanging out with the outgoing one. The sobs racked Jess's body as images of her being alone for the rest of her life flashed through her mind. She saw Jade going through each one of the BSB till she got to Brian, then a loud thump from upstairs interrupted her pity party. For a second, Jess thought about not helping, about not caring about Jade, but she knew that she didn't have it in her and she found herself running up the stairs to her friend's rescue. "Jade, Jade, what happened?" Jess screamed as she entered herfriend's room. Once inside, she found Jade on the floor holding her head, the covers on her bed strewn about wildly. Jess sunk to her knees next to her friend, her eyes pleading with Jade to tell her what had happened. Jess feared the worst.

"Jade what happened?" Jess asked, pushing back the strandsof hair that fell in her eyes. Jade looked up with laughter in her eyes, "I fell off the bed silly, what does it look like?" Jess began to laugh, Jade was definitely back. The two friends sat there for awhile, laughing at Jade's antics, before Jade spoke. "Jess, why were you crying?" Jess looked to her friend; for once the conversation didn't center around Jade, it was Jess's turn to unleash her problems.
