Chapter 41

(written by Michelle)

After watching Jade disappear into her bedroom, Jess walked into the bathroom to change from her dress. "I don't know how Jade does it," she mumbled as she hung the dress up. Changing into her boxers and tank top, she made her way back to her bedroom to find Brian sitting on her bed. He was staring intently at the boxes Jess had brought up from downstairs earlier in the day. Climbing into his lap and resting her head against his chest she spoke softly to him, "What are you thinking about?"

"Three more days Jess, that's it, then this fairy tale life we've been living is all going to end," he said, sighing beneath her. Jess grabbed onto his arms that were wrapped protectively around her waist, "I know but what are we going to do?" she asked, interlocking her fingers with his. "What if I asked you to stay here with me?" Brian asked, already knowing the answer. "You know I can't do that Brian. Why do we always have to have this conversation when we know the answers?" Jess thought for a moment before speaking again, "What if I asked you to come to Philly with me?" She felt Brian sigh another long, heavy sigh, "You know that I can't do that either. I think the best thing is to live our seperate lives for awhile before we live our life together."

"Good idea," Jess said. "Oops, I just remembered the rest of the guys are downstairs," Jess said, clamoring for the door. "Actually, I sent them all home, well everyone except Kevin, he's hanging around downstairs," Brian said, staring at Jess as she stood in front of him. "I hate to see them like this," she said, her face crunching into a sad face. Brian began to laugh at her, "What's so funny?" Jess asked, poking him in the chest. "Nothing, it's just that when you get sad like that your face scrunches up and it looks like you're constipated," he said, falling back onto the bed.

"Uhhhhh, that's so mean Brian, take that back," Jess said, jumping onto his outstretched body. "NEVER!!!" he yelled, rolling over so that she was pinned beneath him. A light bulb flashed suddenly in Jess's mind and she quickly squirmed out from under him, "I'll be right back," she said before dashing out the bedroom door. "Alright," Brian said to the air as he stared after her, confused. Jess meanwhile, had entered Jade's room as quietly as possible in an effort not to wake her.

"Jess, what are you doing?" Jade asked, annoyed that Jess had interrupted her. "Nothing, just going to borrow your bathrobe, that's all," Jess said, dashing outside the door before Jade could interject. "Omph, sorry Kevin," Jess said as she ran smack into him. "It's okay Jess. Is Jade still up? I really need to talk to her," he said, all the life that shone earlier in his eyes gone. "Go on in," Jess said, hurrying to get back to Brian. Jess found Brian staring out the balcony doors, thankfully, he was still inside the room. "Here," Jess said, handing him her over-sized bathrobe and quickly slipping the stolen one on. "What's this for," he asked, even more confused then ever. "Get naked, we're going out," Jess said, an evil tint glaring in her blue eyes. "I don't mind the 'get naked' part, but it's the 'going out' thing that has me a little worried he said, slipping the robe over his own boxers and wife beater.

"I feel like going skinny dipping, how about you?" Jess asked, tying up her robe and stepping closer to Brian. In a matter of seconds, Brian was undressed and in his bathrobe, "What are we waiting for?" he asked, pulling her in for a quick kiss. The two quickly hurried outside to the lake for some midnight fun.

Kevin slowly opened the door to Jade's room, he didn't want to admit it but he was scared out of his mind. He had no idea what was going to happen once he got inside, but he knew he had to do it. He shut the door behind him just in time to hear Brian and Jess scurry down the stairs. Taking a deep breath and trying to calm himself, Kevin sat on the bed, next to the sleeping Jade. Brushing back a loose strand of blonde hair that had fallen into her eyes, he sighed.

"Jade, I know you can't hear me but I want to apologize for what happened back at the club. I should have never let you out of my sight, lord knows I didn't want to. I also want to apologize for not telling you how wrong you were when you said I just wanted you for sex. It's just that it shocked me that you would think that. It's so much more than that, although granted, the sex is good. In the short time I've known you, you've changed my life. But, who am I joking, you're too good for me, you deserve much better. You deserve someone who can be there for you all the time, who can hold you every minute of the day. I can't do that, and no matter how much it hurts, I have to let you leave me in 3 days, even though I want you to stay. So believe me when I say this Jade, I love you, with all my heart, soul, body, and mind. I'll always love you, no matter how much you don't want me to. Goodnight my sweet angel," he finished, planting a soft kiss on her forehead and exiting her room before the sobs hit his body.

Jade slowly opened her eyes after hearing the door shut, she didn't even bother to wipe the tear that fell from her eye, why should she? There would only be more.

Brian chased Jess into the house. After their little late night swim, he was eager to finish what they had started in the lake. She paused in the doorway of the kitchen, and motioned seductively for him to come to her. "Do you always come when I finger you?" she breathed into his ear before making circles around it with her tongue. "Always," he said, meeting his lips with hers in a kiss that shook their bodies. With the passion intensifying in their bodies they quickly made their way to the steps, only to be met with by an upset Kevin.

Their night of passion on the backburner, Brian was the first one to speak, "What happened Kev?" he asked, putting his arm around his cousin's shoulder. Kevin could only shake his head; Jess stared on in disbelief. Kevin seemed so strong, but now here he was in her living room, crying like a child, she was tempted to go over to him till she heard a noise on the steps. Looking up she saw Jade, a single tear making its way down her face. Sensing the two needed to be alone, Jess pried her boyfriend away from his cousin and led him upstairs. "Jade," Kevin said, standing up. She sighed and walked into the living room. "Kevin, we need to talk."
