"A Silent Prayer" reverie by "Marie Louka"
"Marie Louka" is a pseudonym referring to Marie Louise Kaekel, whom Schmid married in 1901.
Piano solo sheet music of "A Silent Prayer" was first published in 1904. There was a 1915 printing by Volkwein Bros.
In 1939, Schmid had a new edition published in Australia. Although the musical notes are the same as before, dynamics
markings are more precise, some pedal markings and a staccato marking were removed, and some phrasing is different.
All printings recommend not playing broken chords in the second and third playings of the opening 16-measure theme.
