The Festival - Traditional Scottish

The Festival officially opens when Master of Ceremonies
Larry Carter is presented the Lawrence Scots sword by
Ceremonial Guard Jeff Eubanks. Let the feasting begin!

Tom Averill wandered through the crowd playing Parlor Pipes,
a much quieter version of the Great Highland Pipes

As usual, Rocky Road Bakeries (also known as Cordelia Brown)
went all out with the traditional Scottish treats & food.
Ben Jongenlen made the haggis this year - delicious!

The jam session was great. Well done, musicians!

You know the jam session is going great when people
spontaneously start dancing. Quite a few were drawn to
kick up their heels. Some were more traditionally trained...

...while others were more free-form & contemporary.
All, however, were appeared to be having fun.

Conversations stopped and the crowd immediately backed off when Bill Read
and Dana Morris began playing the Great Highland Pipes. That got their attention!

The Concert - Traditional/Contemporary Scottish

Rev Phenix again provided the Scottish Heritage and
led a singing of "Loch Lomond."

He also delivered the "Address to a Haggis" as Ceremonial Guard
Jeff Eubanks and pipers Bill Read & Dana Morris looked on.

Maria and Megan performed traditional Scottish tunes
and Robert Burns songs on sitar and electric violin...

...then switched to more traditional instruments.

Forest Green invited Clark Jamison (djembe/tabla)
and John Bunch (bodhran) to sit in with them
for the debut of "The Dance of the Mountain Maid"

Cordelia & Larry also performed "My Love Is Like a Red Rose"
and "Wild Mountain Thyme" on just violin and piano.

Connie Dover demonstrated exactly WHY she's
having such an incredible year. Such a voice!

Mason Brown sang a song and accompanied her on guitar

We ended with everyone on stage for the most famous Robert Burns' song.

We'll take a cup of kindness yet for Auld Lang Syne.

Well done, Lawrence Scots!

Next year, Celtic Folk Rock returns with the Toes!
