Well, honestly, from the buzz I am hearing, I am expecting something good..although I have to fault Paramount for their marketing strategy on this movie, this seems to be a bit more serious than Carrey's other roles, yet the studio continues to market Carrey's past image, to draw the people in. My fear is that those who expect this to be a slapstick, falldown, rubberfaced, Jim Carrey comedy, are going to be disappointed. The story of this movie seems to be Carrey, a story made, then Carrey fit in, instead of the other way around.
My expectations are not sky high, not because I dont think it's deserving, but rather, I want to give the movie the fair chance that it deserves.
I expect a movie that lives up to the originality of the plot idea, that I find so intriguing..that does it smartly, with sensible, realistic dialog, a story that is both smooth, and believable, and a culmination that makes sense with the rest of the story..that's it..

I dont believe in giving away the plot of a movie..reviews are for people who havent seen it..and dont want a synapses..they want to know should they see or not, and why..give em enough of the plot groundwork, give your opinion on why you did or didnt like it..and be real, dont talk over their heads..that's what i try to do.
Good movie..very different, very original..very unique, makes you question a lot of things, religious undertones, beliefs on life, why things happen, how much control we have..etc..Carrey is good, best perf. yet (not saying much, I know)..Harris is paternally creepy..the rest of the cast is hard to gauge..hard to judge actors, playing actors..you know..the story makes sense, lags a bit in the beginning, but as the movie goes on, the beginning was a necessary setup for the rest..I thought it was just okay, until the end, and then all the lagging, etc..made perfect sense. Harris is good..he has that dual I-care-but- am-still-creepy-and-self-serving, mode about him...few actors can pull that off..Carrey will surprise a lot, his performance has touches of his humor..but he also looks more natural and relaxed than he has in other movies, looks like we are seeing him..for real...overall...4 out of 5..could be Oscarish for Harris..Carrey shows potential..good smart, sensible compelling story....but a definite see..quite different...heard an interesting quote when I left the movie..someone said.."That's not what I expected..I liked it"..I beamed at that
