OK, so I’m so psyched about this because I’ve had the tickets for over 4 months! My best friend, Eileen, my dad, and I were going to the ‘NSYNC concert at Jones Beach, Long Island.
We were so crazy, the whole week before the concert Eileen and I had been hanging out and preparing for it. We went shopping and bought all new clothes for the special event. Eileen got baby blue pants, and a baby blue T- shirt that said ‘Property of ‘N SYNC’. I got a pair of blue jeans and a black ‘N SYNC shirt.
My dad and I pick Eileen up around 4 o’clock. We leave Brooklyn, and of course knowing me I forgot the ‘N SYNC tape to play in the car. Anyway, we get there at about 5:30 the concert starts at 7:30. Eileen and I were so mad because 5ive decided to cancel on us, and we were really looking forward to seeing them.
When we first get there, we are like one of the first bunches of people that are there. It was pretty cool. We got there just in time to hear the end of the guy’s sound check. We heard them doing ‘I Drive Myself Crazy’.
Anyway, we’re there and we’re walking around waiting for them to let us go to our seats, and they tell us they are having like this mini concert on the second stage. So Eileen and I are still waiting for them to let us go to our seats so we go and watch the show.
So we go there and we’re like in the 3rd row. This girl Mandy Moore comes out and reminds me of Britney Spears right away. But this girl is pretty good. Then PYT, these four 13 year olds come out and perform. They are the new Spice Girls. And this dude Trey-D comes out and he raps. Then Eileen and me are ready to go to our seats because they were finally letting people in but Jesse and the 8th Street Kids come out and we decide to stay. It was so awesome! I have a picture of Jesse looking right at me!
Then we go to our seats and find my dad. Boy, did our seats suck! We were in the upper balcony thing and towards the back! Luckily I had decided this would be one of the few events that I would actually wear my glasses so I could see. Now, my mom must have told me about 20 times to take a jacket because it would be cold at night, but it was the middle of July and about 90 degrees that day and I didn’t think I needed a jacket, but the stage is right on the water and it’s so cold!!
First this group called 3rd Storee comes out whom I never heard of. They were pretty good. But my dad got a kick out of them because they first come out in these inspector gadget suits. Then the Sugar Hill Gang comes out and I never really heard of them either but they were awesome! They did like a mix song of all past rap artists, like eminiem and B.I.G. It was pretty cool. Then they did the ‘N SYNC rap, the ‘When I say ‘N you say SYNC…’.
Then Jordan Knight comes out! He was so good, but it was still light outside so we couldn’t see him on the screens. When he did ‘Give it to you’ the whole place was going crazy!
Then there was like 20 minutes of intermission with this old music playing. And everyone started the wave! We had the whole upper and lower balcony going!
So finally this guy comes on the screen and he says something like, “I know you guys are here for the ‘N SYNC concert but I’m not letting them come out because they stole my girlfriends heart!” Then they show on the screen Johnny Wright radioing to the guys that they can’t come in, and you just keep hearing Chris say that they are coming, they are on their way! So, then a helicopter flies over the stadium, and on the screen, it shows like a computer downloading the guy’s profiles. Then ropes come down onto the stage and the guy’s jump down. All they keep saying is ‘N SYNC is here, ‘N SYNC is here! Man, do they know how to get the crowd going! They started with ‘Here we go’ went into ‘You got it’ and ‘For the girl who has everything’ where they brought out some girls who won a contest outside the place and sang to them. It was very sweet!
Justin just kept looking too good the whole time. During God must have spent Justin wouldn’t finish the song! It was too cute! He kept licking his lips and smiling, and folding his arms across his chest and listening to all the girls screaming at him. This boy thinks he’s God when he’s on stage or maybe he knows it! Then Chris tells him that there is 4 other guys in the group and he has to finish the song. And he gets down in the audience and sings it to this girl while holding her hand. Oh man I wish I was that girl! She kissed him on the cheek and he didn’t say anything about it, he just yelled at her not to mess up his hair! And Chris asked her if she wanted him to take a picture of them with her camera and he did. It was really sweet.
Then they did their 60s, 70s, and 80s thing and the rest of the show! It was so good! During the 60s I think they come out and they are playing instruments while they sing. In the 70s and the 80s they sing Celebration and ‘ABC, 123’. Then for the 90s they did ‘I want you back’. It was so awesome, then they did ‘I drive myself crazy’, ‘Giddy up’ and ‘Tearin’ Up My Heart’. All in all, it was a great show! And I would go back and re-live that day for anything in the world!
