ANGELS AND DEVILS (BRITISH – 9 OF 10)

 

Thanks to Karen Harvey for the first five Angels and Devils figurines in my collection. Interestingly, each figurine has its own individual paper with a comic strip! This set was first released in Italy under the name “Angelino & Satanello”. If a toy is marked with an asterisk, it means I still need the paper for it.

DER HERR DER RINGE: DIE ZWEI TÜRME (THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS—GERMAN: COMPLETE SET OF 10)

 

Thanks to Ulrike Degen for this set of figurines based on the second movie in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, The Two Towers, directed by New Zealander Peter Jackson and filmed on location all over New Zealand, including parts of my home town, Wellington. This set was initially released in Germany in 2002, then in Japan a year later.

FANA D’FOOT (SOCCER FANS – FRENCH: COMPLETE SET OF 12)

 

Thanks to Ulrike Degen for this set of figurines released in France for the 2002 Soccer World Cup in Japan and South Korea. Of course, France was the defending world champion but got bundled out in the first round. C’est la vie. Thanks to Kay Bundo for the paper. NB: The set is based on the German “Kleine Verwandlungskünstler” one of 1997/98. However, the Fana d’Foot figurines are solid and are in fact hand-painted.

 

2002 A – Pépé Nalty, old man with monocle and walking-stick. His hat is painted up to look like the French Tricolore flag, and he has a Tricolore painted on each cheek. In addition, he’s holding a rose behind his back. Toy Type: Hand-Painted Figurine: Fana d’Foot. No. of Duplicates: 0

2002 F – Emma Scotte, eating an ice cream cone. Her hair ribbon is painted in the red, white and blue of the French flag, and she has Tricolores painted on both her cheeks. I SIMPATICISSIMI PENDOLOTTI (ITALIAN – COMPLETE SET OF 6)

 

Thanks to Ulrike Degen for this set of six Christmas danglers, and thanks to Kay Bundo for the paper that accompanies the set. The figurines in this set are based on two German sets: Sonne, Mond und Sterne from the 1994/95 season, and Die lustigen Kugelkopf-Schneemänner from the 1999/2000 season.

LA STRAMPALATA SCUOLA DE BALENOTTI (STRANGE SCHOOL OF THE BALENOTTI - ITALIAN: COMPLETE SET OF 10)

 

This set of whales at school was released in Italy in spring 2002, and has also been issued in Spain under the name of "Baleolas". It also came out in the Benelux countries in the same year with its Italian name. Thanks to Ulrike Degen for all but one of the toys in my set, and also for the Italian, Spanish and Benelux papers.

This set of Peanuts figurines has only been released in Japan so far. It is probably the very first Kinder Surprise hand-painted set exclusive to an Asian country. Please e-mail me if you have any of the others to trade!
