Holding On

By: Brandy Jackson

When the rain falls I feel it
But it can't feel me
When my heart broke I thought you heard it
But that couldn't be

You missed my undoing
You didn't catch my fall
When my tears came you didn't kiss them away
I wasn't a part of you at all

When I kissed your skin
You brushed it away
When my attention strayed elsewhere
Your eyes begged me to stay

It's funny how you didn't care
When I need you the most
It was all about you
You always came first

Since I've made it this far without you
I think I'll be just fine
Even though you don't love me and we can't be
I have the memory of the good times

Those beautiful smiles you flashed my way
When your eyes twinkled as I walked in
Twenty years from now I'll remember those eyes
Never will there be any like them again
