Each rock and stone has a unique spirit. Although I have listed the general uses of some of my favorite gems and crystals above, often a stone will have qualities not normally ascribed to it when in the hands of certain people. The best way to find out how to use a certain stone is to let it tell you. Keep your heart and mind receptive to it and it will make its secrets known.
