RADIO BIRDMAN "Essential Radio Birdman (1974-1978)" CD Sub-Pop

More in place with the Detroit Rock City camp (ie; THE MC5, GRANDFUNK RAILROAD), RADIO BIRDMAN demonstrates to the world that their sound defies the sometimes dogmatic world of punk rock criticism. This retrospective album unleashes to the world the almost lost sounds of this grossly underlooked band.

Ironically, RADIO BIRDMAN is another Australian band that I feel obligated to give more than an ordinary record review to. But then again, I could babble endlessly how great this record is, how the rhythm guitarist shifts into another brief solo, etc. A plethera of different sounds, ranging from the energetic sonic vibes of the MOTOR CITY FIVE, to originally twisted surf music grace "Essential Radio Birdman."

Start here if you are not familiar with BIRDMAN terrain, while veteran listeners should continue with their dutiful purchasing power of this greatest hits album. Yes, this is a great album. Yes, this is one of the best of 2001, BUT ALL OF THE STATEMENTS ARE NOT RELEVENT UNLESS YOU LIFT YOURSELF OFF YOUR LAZY BEHIND AND OBTAIN THIS ALBUM, PRONTO!
