Brak Presents: “The Brak Album Starring Brak”

Every year a record company releases albums for people to listen to. 2000 is no different. Brak Presents: “The Brak Album Starring Brak” is one such album, and it’s set to change the face of music forever. With free-association lyrics that would make Beck weep with envy, Brak bursts onto the music scene with the official soundtrack to his new show on Cartoon Network “Brak Presents: “The Brak Show Starring Brak.” Some might recognize this incredible talent from that staple of late night talk shows, “Space Ghost: Coast To Coast.” Leaving that hack Space Ghost in the dust, Brak shines as a true talent as he duets with the likes of the Chieftains, Grape Ape, Zorak, Freddie Prinze Jr., Wally Gator, and WCW Superstar Diamond Dallas Page on songs like “Magic Toenail,” “Highway 40,” “Evil Is Only Skin Deep,” and the classic “I’m A Cucumber.”

In order to provide listeners with a way to listen to Brak Presents: “The Brak Album Starring Brak” the whole way through in one sitting, Kid Rhino has thoughtfully placed snippets from “Brak Presents: “The Brak Show Starring Brak” between some songs. This helps the listener to take a break from analyzing the deep lyrics Brak has written, lyrics like “I have a magic toenail, I keep it on my toe,” and “Hello this song is a really cool song, a song I just can’t wait to sing. I’m not sure if it’s a real song but I’m singing it so it must be a song.” And who could forget “I like ant farms, recess, and eating pork and beans.” Taking a heartwarming turn, Brak covers the Nat King Cole classic “I’m Forgettable.” I know a reviewer is not supposed to get personal with reviews, but frankly this song made me cry. When you hear Brak sing “so forgettable...something something...ham” I DEFY you not to weep like a school girl who’s just found out her cute substitute has moved on to another school. If you buy one album this year, buy whatever Neil Young releases, but if you buy another album, buy Brak Presents: “The Brak Album Starring Brak”

Rating: Buy it. Or don’t.
