Strategy , Tactics, and Leadership, a basic course

Our Wrathful God of War's TEN COMMANDMENTS (thank you richard marcinko)

There is no way i can discuss all the concepts of military thought on this page. What follows is sort of a "Readers Digest Condensed Version"

1. Maintain an objective.
Every military operation must be direced towards the decisive, obtainable objective. In other words, if you cand discribe the outcome you desire, you shouldnt be fighting the war!
Having a stated objective that is known to the troops is critical. Having the intitave to take advantage of a sudden enemy weakness, or to retreat *kick ass in the other direction* in the face of an unexpected enemy strength, depends on everybody knowing the overall plan.
2. Watch your Concentration.
A single grenade or machine gun can kill crowds easily. As a general rule, everybody in vietnam kept at least five yards apart at all times. This distance is not always desireable in airsoft, your team will have to adjust accordinly.
But you must stay close enough together that you can concentrate your offensive firepower against an enemy.
Units have to stay far enough apart that they will not all get hit at once, but close enough together that they can all assist eachother.

3.Knowledge is Power.
A small army with a good inteligence network is worth alot more than a large army thats kept in the dark. Gain as much information about an enemy as possible before engaging them in combat. You may discover a weakness that they have overlooked.

5. Watch the Multipliers.
The following formulas are very simple, and not the most accurate, however they should be good enough.
a- It costs twice as much to attack as defend.
b- Attacking the enemy's flank or rear is twice as effective as attacking him in the front. Frontal assaults look good in the movies, scare the hell out of the enemy, and usually result in the virtaul destrucion of the ATTACKING force.
c- Suprise doubles the effectiveness of any attack. Anytime you do something predictable, the enemy has time to defend against it.
d- Defense strength is directly proportional to fortification strentgh. Ino other words, holes, bunkers, and trenches can easily double the number of survivors in an attack.
