As you already know, Calculus invites Tintin, Captain Haddock, Thomson & Thompson to show Professor Winstock and his greatest invention - a '"TIME MACHINE"! Captain Haddock refuses to go but later accepts. The machine is operated and they Time Machine propels them to...
The "Time Machine" propels our adventurers to the Mesozoic Age. "We are in the Jurassic Era", remarks Professor Calculus. Astonished with the view they get hiding behind the bushes, the Jurassic air giving the chill of the lifetime, Tyrannosaurus Rex eating the hunted Edmontosaurus, Pterodactyls flying in the sky, huge Brachiosaurs romaing eating the leaves of the ancient trees which the scientists used to study as fossils. Tintin says "It's amazing! I'm seeing things which I could never dream of...".
Captain Haddock - "Thousands
of thundering typhoons, your goat slicer brought us to this age! What are we
going to do now?"
Thomson - "Are we safe here? I'm really afraid hiding here behind the bushes
seeing Tyrant lizards. They do look dangerous!"
Thompson - "To be precise: they danger looks!"
"I know it is dangerous to
stay here! The dinosaurs too consist of meat-eating & plant-eating! Who knows
we might have to face one of them?" says Calculus. Tintin was at that moment
looking at the fascinating lizards and then came up with a question, "Professor!
Did ancient man exist when dinosaurs were there?"
"No! Ancient man came very late, very late after the DINOSAURS!" answers Calculus.
"Enough of this DINO talk! Lets get out of here before any of those dinosaurs
attack us! Let's go back to Marlinspike!" says Captain Haddock.
Calculus - "You want to quit
now! Even if we die, it is worthwile seeing this!"
Captain Haddock - "There you go again! You said the same thing when we went
on the moon! I was living this life peacefully when you goat called me and made
me come here! Now, if we die then nobody will ever know we existed."
Calculus - "The advantage of this time travel is that we will get more knowledge
and then it will happen as a dream. After our time travel, I've set the Time
Machine to the time before we ever got here. It will just look like as if we
all had the same dreams."
At that moment, Professor
Winstock who was listening to the conversation says "We better find some cave
to live for now! It's not safe to argue here!"
Tintin says "Professor is right! I think I see a cave there but I also see some
dinosaurs. How do we get there?"
Calculus - "It is no problem! We can go to the cave. The dinosaurs are baby brontosaurs but we have to be careful if there parents are somewhere near..."
They all go to the cave but the babies suddenly start following Captain Haddock. "Shoo! Go away! You babies of a thunder!" says Captain. The babies follow to some extent when they hear a sound so high. It were their parents calling them and the babies turned back.
Tintin - "Here, we are! This
is the cave! We have to stay inside this?"
Thompson - "I don't know what will happen of us?"
