THE SCHOOL WEEK
ASSEMBLIES
School assemblies are held at least once a week, on Tuesday morning at 8.00. Assembly programmes include such items as announcements, presentations of certificates and short artistic performances. Attendance is compulsory for all students.CANTEEN
The school canteen is privately operated and sells drinks and snacks. It is open during break (10.00) and lunch (12.40) and closes 5 minutes before the beginning of subsequent classes. Students are asked to display good manners when using the canteen facilities. When an adjusted timetable is in operation, eg. during examinations, canteen times are adapted accordingly.DAILY TIMES
The school day begins with registration or assembly at 08.00 sharp. Lessons begin at 08.15. There are 9 lessons of 35 minutes each day, many of which are combined into double and triple lessons (70 and 105 min). Breaks are at 10.00 and 12.40. Lessons finish at 14.30. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, co-curricular activities continue until 15.30. At 14.30 on Mondays, teachers convene for meetings and in-service training. The bell schedule is available from the School Office.DISPENSARY
The LBIS dispensary is well stocked to handle minor medical emergencies. The paramedic is on duty whenever school is in session, and in more severe cases, LBIS students will receive prompt attention at the nearby Clinique Mauricienne in Reduit.LOCKERS
Lockers are available to students, who must provide a stout padlock.TRANSPORT
There is bus transport from Le Bocage to most destinations on the island. Several private bus companies operate services for students. The buses arrive before 08.00 in the morning and many lines run both a 14.30 and 15.30 service. Please consult the Bus Co-ordinator, who is at school every day, for details. When students are travelling on school buses, they are expected to show the same standards of behaviour as in the classroom. Although the school does not operate the buses, it responds firmly to reports of misbehaviour. Students may travel to school on their motorbikes only after permission is granted by the Deputy Headmaster. Owing to lack of parking space, students may not drive cars to school.
