Fancy's official name was Fil-Am's Bernadette - KS005-037. She was a nice Argente Cream female that I got from Patrick in KCMO, along with her black sister, Bridget. I called her Fancy one day, and the name stuck. She was the 2nd 'wife' of the late Chimera (7/3/99 - 12/30/02; Fancy gave birth to their last litter the day after he passed away).
Fancy and Chimera produced some very nice offspring - one of whom (TSD's Katsegura Yoninah Shindao) went on to become the Matriarch for The Shindao Dynasty (C. Devoe). Fancy's grandaughter (RSG's Suki Nakamura, Katsegura's Siamese daughter) is my current 'foundation' girl here at RSG. She is the most wonderful gerbil, and has an affection for humans like her late grandmother. =) Fancy will live on in her many, many offspring, as this line will be continued in my kennel for all time. (Known now as the Nakamura family line.)
Fancy really loved running on the wheel. When she became a mother, she settled down some, but when the pups grew older, she would go for a quick run on the wheel before returning to her wee ones. =) Fancy was so friendly, and really loved human interaction. After Chimera's death and her boys from the last litter 'leaving home', Fancy preferred to live alone. She never accepted the company of another gerbil again, but did love attention from me (and my younger brother who would visit 'his' ;) gerbil from time to time). Fancy took her last breath in my hands, and I know she lived a happy life (though maybe not extra long, it was a full one). I know that now she is well again, and I'm sure she has the most wonderful wheel to run in whenever her happy little heart desires. ^-^
**Goodbye, sweet Fancy.**
