You know it's all gone to hell when... at the end of the seventh season, Agent Mulder finds himself abducted by aliens, Agent Scully is pregnant when she is barren, the Cigarette-Smoking Man dies, and the FOX network is screwing us all over. Hold on a second... this was the season finale of season seven!
Requiem was crap. How is it that all of a sudden Mulder and Scully are all "touchy-feely"?? Chris Carter should pay more attention to the coninuety of his own show. In Je Souhait (written and directed by Vince Gilligan), Mulder and Scully were being the usual FBI agents that they are. Then one episode later, it seems as if they have been romantically involved for years! It just doesn't fit! What the hell is happening to the once unique show called The X-Files? Well, the first explanation would be the so-called "fans" of the show, who call themselves 'Shippers. They write to the creator of the series, Chris Carter, and beg for a kiss. They got it. They aren't happy still. So, Gillian Anderson writes all things and suggests that the two agents slept together. So the FOX network decides to renew the series for season eight, and Chris Carter realizes the the ratings this year were terrible, and he's been sucked into season eight, so what does he do... he makes Agent Scully pregnatn!
Some reason Requiem will ruin season eight
are:
2. What the hell will Scully do with this baby, considering she is a federal agent. She has a dangerous job, she will put the child's futur in danger.
3. Season eight will be like a soap-opera. This will happen because Mulder is probably the father, and they are partners at the FBI (this can't happen by the way) It's all wrong!
4. It has been stated that Scully can't have children because of her Abduction back in Duane Barry (2x05). This very fact was stated in the season five two-parter, Chirstmas Carol/Emily.
5. Mulder and Scully will more than likely get together (because of FOX and the so-called fans, the 'shippers). The X-Files is going to turn into cookie-cutter crap you see Wednesday nights on the WB.
6.There are now more chance that Chris Carter (forced by FOX, I'm sure) will introduce new main characters now that Mulder is gone, and Scully is pregnant. When Scully has to go on leave (like so many stupid 'shippers want :::rolls eyes and pukes:::) someone new will be assigned to the x-files project. (NOTE: My opinions on this have changed. I don't want Scully or Mulder on the show. I want them to do season 10 but they wont. I love John Doggett, Monica Reyes, Brad Follmer, and all the new charaters.)
7.The Cigarette-Smoking Man is dead (maybe... not everything dies) Who is going to keep the conspiracy a secret. Alex Krycek and Marita Covarrubias can't, because in the words of Krycek in Tunguska (4x09) "The one thing they fear is exposure. If you expose him, expose his crimes, you destroy the destroyer's ability to destroy." Now, obviously, Krycek will be the one to expose the conspiracey. He was selling information in Tunisia. He got caught, if you remember. If you also remember that the Cigarette-Smoking Man told Marita that he sent Krycek to find the craft, and didn't tell him where it was because he would more than likely sell the information. A quote from the Smoking Man that supports all of this is the scene where Krycek and Marita come back from Oregon, "Maybe you didn't want to succeed."
8. With Scully's pregnacy, I can only imagine her running after the bad guy when all of a sudden she yells, "My water broke!", and the bad guy gets away. It's just stupid. :::shakes head:::
9. We could now loose good story lines. I trust the writers to try their best under these crappy conditions. But you know the FOX network will be pushing for crap (look at what they are airing...). The writers will have to write all the crap the network want and the shippers (my god, it's hard to be out numbered by stupid people who are destroying the show!). We all know that now the stories will be based on the "relationship" of Mulder and Scully, and not on the show'sbase of creativity of good plot-lines, entertainment.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't hate Requiem. There are good parts. But the above reasons are only stating why season eight will be ruined (mostly by the FOX network and the shippers.)
Some of my favorite parts of Requiem are:
2. When Mulder and Scully have a big money expense at the bureau. And Scully wants to keep spending it by going to Oregon. Very funny.
3. How we got to got back to Bellfleure, Oregon. It was very intersting to see them go back to their first case from the Pilot episode.
4. When we see Mulder's red 'X' on the road that he painted in the pilot episode.
5. When Skinner brings Krycek and Marita to talk to Mulder. That was extremely interesting . I wouldn't mind seeing more of that! =)
6. Whooboy!... can't forget Krycek in the shower!!
7. The scene where Mulder get's abducted.
8. When the boys in Oregon go into the forest the second time and one of the boys shinesa light on the space craft and the other guy is shaking inside of it. Very cool!
9. When Mulder, Scully, Krycek, Marita, Skinner, and the Lone Gunmen are meeting together to discuss what going on in Oregon.
10. When Skinner is looking for Mulder after he enters the craft, and we see Skinner behind Mulder.
11. Seeing the UFO go up into the sky.
12. When Krycek and Marita come back from Oregon and go see the Cigarette-Smoking Man. I hate to say this, but I even liked it when Krycek killed the Smoking Man. But I will miss him.
13. When SKinner goest to tell Scully what happened to Mulder and when he cries.
Personally, I don't think they should have make Scully pregnant. It's obvious why, but some people are blind to it. As I said before, Scully isn't able to have Children, but I can't ever imagine The X-Files with a baby. When Gillian Anderson was pregnant with her daughter, Piper Maru, Chris Carter and company did something unique. Unlike other televison shows, when one of their actresses are pregnant, they give the character they play on the show a baby. With The X-Files they don't. It's what makes the show so special and unique. I don't think this was a good idea, because now The X-Files is turning into a cookie-cutter show.
My rant is finally over! I bet you never thought I'd stop. I bet you are happy... that is... if you made it this far.
