Notes: Kansas City moves 53
yards on their opening drive and finds the end zone with Billy Jackson. The defense does a great job of frustrating Craig
Morton and the offense through the first two quarters. Whitney Paul scoops up a Craig Morton fumble
and runs it 47 yards for a touchdown to put the Chiefs up 14-0. Kenney’s poor decision-making and execution
nearly give the game back to Denver, but he is
successful just enough to keep Kansas
City out of trouble, due mostly to his reliance on the
running game. The first half is marked
with 6 turnovers – 2 fumbles and an interception by each team.
Denver
does a good job of stopping the run early in the second half, and they are able
to find the end zone after a long pass to Rick Upchurch and an 11-yard TD pass
to WR Steve Watson. Kansas City fights back in the fourth quarter
with a 64-yard TD pass to Henry Marshall to stay ahead 21-7. Morton finds Watson again in the end zone to
keep the Broncos within a touchdown, but KC’s fifth sack on Morton, Steinfort’s
missed field goal, and Joe Delaney’s 82-yard touchdown run seal the win for Kansas City.
Thanks John!
