Schottenheimer returns to Cleveland
the year after Art Modell “blew it” and forced him to leave, and his Chiefs
battle in the mud to a tie with the Browns.
Cleveland’s stiff defense, clearly
influenced by Head Coach Bud Carson, and Kansas City’s numerous
penalties prevent the Chiefs from winning Marty’s grudge match. Kansas
City’s defense does its part, too, with rookie Derrick
Thomas seemingly everywhere at once and Neil Smith everywhere Thomas
isn’t. A touchdown on each side –
offensive for Cleveland
and defensive for KC – plus a field goal each wraps up the scoring in this
classic struggle between two strong teams.
A good quality game from the beginning of the glorious Martyball
days!
Thanks John!
