Notes:  QB Steve Fuller tries to run on the Chiefs’ first series, but he fumbles the ball away at the KC 29-yard line.  The Steelers are unable to capitalize on the turnover, as Gary Green picks off Terry Bradshaw’s tipped pass at the 2-yard line. The possession is short-lived, though, and KC punts the ball away.  This time Bradshaw’s aim is true, and he finds John Stallworth in the end zone.  On the Steelers’ next possession, Bradshaw finds Stallworth again, this time for a 75-yard pass play for the touchdown.

Pittsburgh has a solid drive in the beginning of the second quarter that culminates in a Greg Hawthorne TD, putting KC in a hole too big to climb out of.  The Steelers defense begins to maul the Chiefs, but Fuller hangs in there and fires several bullets downfield to wide open receivers.  His persistence pays off, as Billy Jackson carries the ball through the tough Steelers line to score the touchdown.  Pittsburgh comes right back with a Franco Harris touchdown to close out the first half.

After a scoreless third quarter, in which the Pittsburgh defense turned up its intensity and repeatedly put Fuller on the ground, Lloyd Burruss comes up with a big interception and KC drives it home, scoring with the tight end Willie Scott.  It would be their last score of the day, and Pittsburgh added on a fifth touchdown when Sidney Thornton managed to get across the goal line.  The loss dropped the Chiefs to 1-4 and helped to run Marv Levy out of town.
