Notes:  **JIP**  Kansas City fumbles away the ball, a recurring theme for them on the day, and San Diego makes them pay.  KC’s poor tackling allows the Chargers rush to flourish and put Muncie in the end zone.  The Chiefs come right back, showing off their AFC-best 167 rushing yards per game in an 11-play, 6:34 drive to tie the score.  After a fumble for each team, San Diego comes back with a 5-play, 71-yard drive that culminates in Muncie plowing into the end zone.  In the third quarter, Bill Kenney rifles the ball into Henry Marshall’s hands, then Pete Shaw knocks it loose and Marshall fumbles it forward 8 yards into J.T. Smith’s hands.  Smith runs it another 18 yards before being hauled down, setting up Jackson’s TD run.  The Chiefs sneak to within 2 points of the Chargers on a Lowery field goal, then take the lead with three more by the reliable kicker.  San Diego’s last drive eats up the clock, and Benirschke kicks the winning field goal with 16 seconds left in the game.  At the end of the day, Kansas City had moved into first place with the most turnovers – 30.

Thanks John!
