Notes:  Kansas City gets on the board first with a 35-yard Nick Lowery field goal, but LA moves ahead in the second quarter with a touchdown pass to Todd Christensen.  The Raiders get after KC QB Steve Fuller hard, trapping him on the KC 1 and forcing a punt.  The Chiefs go right back on offense when Gary Green intercepts QB Jim Plunkett, and they spend six minutes setting Lowery up for his second field goal.  The Chiefs then hold off a late second quarter attack, and LA K Chris Bahr misses the field goal.

The Chiefs take the ball away on LA’s first possession of the second half, but Lowery misses on the 48-yard field goal attempt.  The Raiders’ subsequent field goal attempt is blocked by WR Stan Rome.  The Chiefs have to punt again, but on LA’s first play Marcus Allen fumbles and Gary Green recovers it, taking the ball to the 2-yard line.  After Fuller is sacked again, Lowery puts the Chiefs up 9-7 with another field goal.

Bill Kenney comes in for Fuller in the fourth quarter but has no better luck.  After a lot of back and forth, pushing and shoving that characterizes Chiefs-Raiders games, and two very suspect calls against Kansas City, the Raiders are able to find the end zone on a 9-yard pass to Christensen.  The Chiefs retake the lead with less than two minutes left on a 1-yard dash by Billy Jackson, but Plunkett runs a clumsy two-minute drill that somehow succeeds when Muhammad comes back from the corner of the end zone to make the touchdown catch.
