Notes:  These two stiff defenses slug it out for 60 minutes.  QB Steve Bono has a hard time getting the Kansas City offense started, but the Chargers struggle almost as much as the Chiefs.  San Diego puts the Chiefs on their heels late in the game, but Kansas City comes up with the game-tying TD with 15 seconds left on the clock.  QB Gale Gilbert, filling in for Stan Humphries, who was injured on the last drive of the 4th quarter, can’t get the Chargers into scoring position, setting up a punt.  Tamarick Vanover, in his rookie season, runs Bennett’s punt back 86 yards for a touchdown and the OT win.  This was the first NFL game ever to be decided in OT by a punt return for a TD.

Thanks Brad!
