Notes: Kansas City knocks off
the ascendant Chargers, despite their depleted lineup. With 14 players on the injured reserve list,
including Priest Holmes and Morten Anderson, Trent Green commands the backup
players effectively, throwing a 99-yard pass to Marc Boerigter, setting a
franchise record for the longest pass completion. Michael Husted, who had not kicked a field
goal in more than 2 years, sends one through the uprights with 1:08 left in the
game to go ahead of Marty Schottenheimer’s Chargers. An interception on San Diego’s ensuing drive seals the game for
the Chiefs. It was the 100th consecutive
sellout at Arrowhead Stadium, dating to the opener in 1990. The Chiefs brought
their season point total to 466, breaking their team record of 448 set in 1966.
