Notes:  Nick Lowery kicks the opening kickoff out of bounds, but the KC defense keeps the Seahawks off the board on their opening drive when S Deron Cherry intercepts QB Jeff Kemp in the end zone.  The Chiefs then drive downfield on the back of Christian Okoye, and Lowery puts it through the uprights from 27 yards out for a 3-0 lead.  They go up 10-0 when QB Steve DeBerg hits WR Tim Barnett for a 19-yard TD pass.  The Chiefs hold Seattle out of the end zone at the end of the second half, and rookie kicker John Kasay misses the field goal from 30 yards.

LB Chris Martin puts an end to Seattle’s third quarter drive when he sacks Kemp and knocks the ball loose for Dan Saleaumua to fall on.  The Seahawks finally get on the board with 2:57 left in the third quarter when Kasay kicks a 46-yard field goal.  The Chiefs tack on another field goal, then go up 20-3 when DeBerg hits Harvey Williams on the run for the second TD pass of the day.  T Bryan Millard, in his last season, is ejected from the game following an altercation inside the KC 5-yard line.  On the following play, RB Derrick Fenner scores when he leaps across the goal line, but it is not enough for Seattle to overcome the stout KC defense and the Chiefs hold on for the win.
