exploded for 20 points in the final eight minutes on three short touchdown
runs, and the Buccaneers’ defense held the NFL’s leading rushing attack to 120
yards. With Tampa Bay
leading 10-6 midway through the final stanza, Buccaneers rookie Doug Williams
(14 of 23 for 226 yards) engineered an 80-yard march capped by Jimmy DuBose’s
one-yard drive. Moments later, Cedric
Brown’s interception set up a three-yard touchdown run by Louis Carter. DuBose closed out the scoring on another
one-yard burst. Tony Adams connected with
Henry Marshall for the Chiefs’ first scoring pass of 1978.
