Author’s Note: After my sister Cassie pointed out to me that in Within, Doggett said to Scully that maybe she didn’t really know Agent Mulder, I had this idea… ok, so it wasn’t exactly right after she said this, it just came to me tonight. Anyway… this is the story that tells what Doggett was talking about in that episode. This story takes place near the end of season seven. I hope you enjoy it!

FADE IN:

John Doggett had to step outside his office to get away from the case he was working. Working in criminal investigation was a hard job, but somebody had to do it. He let out a heavy sigh as he leaned against the wall.

The elevator at the end of the hallway opened with a ding. This caught Doggett’s attention. He looked over and saw the agent better known as “Spooky”. Doggett didn’t know much about the man who spent his life in the basement looking for the aliens who took his sister. Doggett noticed that Agent Mulder was walking towards him, so he thought he’d take the opportunity to get to know him. Maybe he wasn’t as crazy as everyone was saying.

“Agent Muldah?” Doggett said in a polite manner.

Agent Mulder stopped and looked at Doggett.

“Yeah, that’s me.” Answered Agent Mulder.

“I’m agent Doggett.”

“Yeah, so?” Said Agent Mulder with a little bit of a sneer in his voice.

“I just thought I’d introduce myself since we’ve never met, and I’ve heard a lot about you.” Doggett said, not fully understanding why this Agent Mulder guy would be sneering at him.

Doggett put out his hand. Agent Mulder reluctantly shook it, as not to look like a complete ass in front of other agents of the bureau.

“So, uh… you work on the x-files, right?” Doggett asked.

“Yeah.”

This Agent Mulder doesn’t say much. Doggett thought to himself.

“I have to go Agent… uh… what was your name?” Agent Mulder asked.

“Agent Doggett.” Doggett answered.

“Right. Agent Daggett.”

Agent Mulder gave Doggett a sneer as he walked off. Doggett didn’t understand why this agent would be so rude to someone he just met. Maybe the agents down in the x-files don’t get out much. Doggett watched Agent Mulder walk down the hall.

Agent Mulder stopped by a blonde woman and whispered something in her ear. The woman smiled, and Agent Mulder smiled back, he looked both ways to make sure no one was watching. Agent Mulder and the woman walked towards a supply closet and shut the door. Guess they didn’t notice that Doggett was watching them.

Doggett couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. He had heard rumors about Agent Mulder and the ladies, but never thought they were true. Especially from a once highly respected criminal profiler.

Assistant Director Brad Follmer stuck his head out of the room that Doggett had just escaped from. He notices Doggett’s shocked expression.

“Agent Doggett?” Brad asked.

Doggett snapped out of his shocked expression and looked towards Brad.

“Are you all right?” Brad asked.

“Yeah.” Doggett answered.

“We need you back in here.” Brad told him.

Doggett nodded his head. Brad went back inside. Doggett gave a glance over to the supply closet, still in disbelief of what was happening.

*************************

Later that day, at the cafeteria, John Doggett sat down with his tray of food. Across the cafeteria, Agent Mulder walked in. Doggett took notice, but didn’t really care what the man was up to.

Agent Mulder didn’t bother to get any food. He noticed a beautiful blonde sitting alone at the table. This isn’t the same blonde from before, this is Assistant Director Kersh’s secretary. Agent Mulder leaned over the table and said something to her that made her smile.

You’ve got to be kidding me! Doggett thought in his head. Does this man have no respect for the bureau or it’s employees?!

Doggett looked on in shock as Agent Mulder and Assistant Director Kersh’s secretary walked out of the cafeteria.

Does this man have nothing better to do? Doggett thought to himself.

Doggett tried to force down the rest of his meal, disgusted at the way Agent Mulder conducted himself on the bureau’s time. No agent that acts like this should be in the FBI, which is probably why he’s in the basement.

Doggett continued to think about this to himself as he tried to finish his meal. Happy to know that he wasn’t a bad agent like Agent Mulder, and that he respected other agents.

THE END.
