Music Boxes

Opening Music Box Opening Circular Music Box San Francisco Music Box Company, 1986. This hinged music box opens, and when wound, the mask and rose inside turn. It plays The Music of the Night and features a panel inside the lid with the Phantom’s mask and a rose atop a score for The Phantom of the Opera. A lit candelabra is to one side of the score.

Musical Stage and Easel Easel and Stage Music Box San Francisco Music Box Company, 1986. A silver easel sits atop the curtained stage holding a scroll of music for Music of the Night. A rose and mask appear to float at the sides of the curling scroll. The music box plays The Music of the Night. See Video!

Phantom and Christine LE Limited Edition Phantom and Christine Music Box San Francisco Music Box Company, 1986. Christine closes her eyes wrapped safely in the Phantom’s embrace. This music box features the Phantom and Christine on a rock and moss covered surface with candles to one side. The music box plays Angel of Music and comes in a limited edition of 7,500.

Musical Glitter Globe Mirror Scene Musical Glitter Globe San Francisco Music Box Company, 1986. The Phantom and Christine face one another for the first time as the mirror opens into his world. This musical globe features a metallic sort of green glitter that falls gently on the couple when the music box is turned upside down then righted. The glitter globe plays The Music of the Night. Masquerade Monkey Masquerade Monkey Music Box San Francisco Music Box Company, 1986. The masquerade monkey is all the Phantom has left at the musical’s end, and this replica of the show piece does the mechanical monkey justice. When the music key underneath is wound the music box plays Masquerade and the monkey plays his cymbals. A good piece has cymbals that meet flush as the monkey plays.See Video!

Jack-in-The-Box The Phantom of the Opera Colm Wilkinson Jack-in-The-Box Enesco, 1990. This music box is made with the bust of the Phantom above a wooden box festooned with pictures of the Phantom on the sides and the show’s logo on the front. The Phantom is made of porcelain and wears a removable hat and a cape patterned after the one in the musical. The music box plays The Music of the Night, and the sound is excellent in a well-kept model. See Video!

Red Death Music Box Red Death Music Box San Francisco Music Box Company, 2000. The Phantom makes his stunning entrance dressed as the Red Death. This music box plays Masquerade. The Phantom stands with his hands outstretched, perhaps beckoning Christine to his side.

The bottom of the stand bears information about the box: “Crafted in fine porcelain bisque and dressed in his familiar black hat and coat, this collectible is further enhanced by the tune “Music of the Night.” and is limited to an edition of 2,500 sequentially numbered pieces, worldwide.” The top of the doll moves to the music when wound.
