1957 Man of a Thousand Faces Dir. Joseph Pevney. Perf. James Cagney and Jane Greer. Universal. Cagney is convincing in his portrayal of Lon Chaney Sr. and portrays scenes from some of Chaney’s most beloved films. Phantom fans will enjoy the brief Phantom interlude and Cagney’s interesting rendition of Chaney’s most famous role. No rating, suitable for all audiences. VHS, B & W, 122 minutes.

1988 Waxwork Dir. Anthony Hitchkox. Perf. Miles O’Keeffe, Deborah Foreman. Vestron Pictures. There’s a new waxworks in town, a magical place hosting the 18 most villainous men of all time, the Phantom of the Opera being one of them. This comedic horror movie has some good spots, and the interpretation of the Phantom is especially interesting. Rated R. VHS, color, 100 minutes. Vestron pictures, 1988.

1989 The Fabulous Villains Dir. James Gordon. Burbank Video. This documentary video explores the heritage of screen villains, including the Phantom. The video also includes some of Lon Chaney’s Sr.’s other roles. Interestingly, the first skeletal cartoon appearance of a Phantom style character is also included. This is a good video to accompany any study of film history. Not rated, suitable for all audiences. VHS, color and B & W, 53 minutes. Burbank video, 1989.

1996 100 Years of Horror: Ghosts and Phantoms This tape of a two-tape set from the 100 Years of Horror Series contains some wonderful Phantom footage. Chaney, Rains, and Lom clips are played, as well as clips from some of their other films. Although this documentary can add films for titles’ sake alone, some of the inclusions will give Phantom fans a good laugh. VHS, color and B & W, 50 minutes. Simitar, 1996.

Shriek if you Know What I did last Friday the 13th 2000 That is a real title. The killer plays the Phantom briefly and even does an organ riff. Where he picked up that gondolier hat and funky organ I’d love to know.

2002 Gremlins 2: The New Batch Warner Brothers, 1990. The DVD not only contains the creation and unmasking of a Phantom gremlin, but the deleted scenes have another quick shot. DVD, 2002.

2003 Rob Zombie: Past, Present, and Future Geffen. This music and DVD video set contains the previously unreleased video for Phantom Stranger. Which of course features a ghastly Erik prototype on the organ. The video like the rest is a delightful romp into the forbidden zone, and is sure to offend all sorts of viewers

2005 Monster Kid Home Movies PPS. As the name implies, viewers are treated to an extremely brief homemade Phantom make-up. But it is cobbled together by none other than Kerry Gammill who would go on to illustrate such comics as Spiderman. He also includes the unmasking scene and a still image of Erik graces his bio. Well worth the price for monster lovers everywhere. DVD, over 3 hours.
