Chapter 14

Leighanne joined me in the bathroom as I was brushing my teeth

“Morning,” she said yawning. She was still half dead. It was kind of early in the morning still. She was in her bathrobe. Damn, even in a bathrobe she looked fantastic.

“Mummimng…” I muttered while spitting the water out

“How was…your night?” She grinned at me. I rolled my eyes

“Great. Nick and I rocked the house didn’t we?” I said dully.

“Brian and I thought that a volcano erupted!”

“Leigh! You sick perv! We didn’t even do anything besides sleep,”

Leighanne did a little tap dance and grabbed a toothbrush “Little Rachel,” she sang “Growing up!”

“Little?” I cried. I stood on my tip toes and tried to threaten her by holding my fists threateningly into her face.

Nick walked in that time. He carried me and slung me over his shoulders

“I’ll take care of her for you Leighanne,” Nick said

“Thanks Nicky,” she said and closed the door for her shower. I shrieked and pounded on his back. I could hear Brian showering in the other room. Nick placed me gently on Brian and Leighanne’s bed

“Hi,” I said laughing.

“Hello,” Nick said sitting next to me. He slung his arm casually around my arm.

“Hi,” I said again and fell against the bed laughing. His hair…it looked like it was cut by kindergarten scissors

“Oohh…sexy hair,” I said in a low raspy voice.

He ran his hand through his hair and shook his hair in my face tickling it. I got up and ran to my room locking the door. Nick was already in it.

“Nick…” I teased

“Yes?” he said his lips on mine already. I pushed them away

“I need a shower,” I said laughing.

He gave me a funny look. “Oh really? Need company?”

I walked slowly to the bathroom. I could feel him following me. I walked slowly and tried to strut. I knew that Nick was interested. I turned around quickly and I shoved him onto the bed and pinned myself on top of him. I kissed him hard and after a few minutes of kissing I let him go

“No thanks,” I said laughing. He kissed me one more time and left the room

“I’ll miss you,” he said

“Nick…I’m only gonna be gone for 10 minutes,” I said laughing

“10? You…you said 5!!” Nick cried.

“20,” I corrected him. He pouted and I closed the door and leaned against it. Nick was too good to be true. That shooting star was fate.

“Thank you so much,” I said to the ceiling.

~*Christmas Eve*~

I climbed into bed and fell asleep. Tomorrow was gonna be Christmas. I couldn’t wait. My favorite holiday of all time was coming.

~*3 Hours Later*~

I woke up unable to get to sleep. Nick wasn’t next to me. How strange. It was almost midnight and everyone was asleep. I put on some clothes and went downstairs. Nick was sitting at the kitchen table. In boxers and a T-shirt. He had his elbows propped on the table and looked like he was deep in thought. He looked gorgeous.

“Hi,” I whispered sitting down next to him. He smiled up at me

“Hi,” he said back

“What’re you doing up so late?”

“I…I couldn’t sleep,” he lied

“Oh…what’s on your mind?” I asked him pouring myself a cup of tea

“You,” He said laughing really shyly.

“Besides that,” I said laughing

“We go on tour…soon,” he said softly, suddenly a serious edge to his voice.

“So?” I asked warming my hands on the mug

He looked up at me surprised “Don’t you care?” he asked

“Of course I care!” I insisted.

He looked at me funny “Past girlfriends I’ve had have whined, they’ve cried and they’ve moaned and groaned on and on about how much they’re going to miss me and how they can’t live without me,” he said

“Am I supposed to be one of them?” I asked him. He sounded a bit selfish there. As if I couldn’t carry on without him in my life. Which was partly true, but he didn’t need to know that. I could handle it.

“Well….no….I’m just surprised, I’m gonna miss you a lot,” he said

I then took the cup and put it on the table. I smiled at him “I’m gonna miss you too Nick, but you realize that this is your job…I mean, I can’t expect for you to be with me all the time. We have to be apart during some point in our lives,”

He played with his hair “True…but remember…we’re gonna spend the rest of our lives together,”

“I know Nick,”

“I’ll miss you,”

“I’ll miss you too,”

He looked at his watch. It was I minute before Christmas. Nick held up mistletoe between us. Me in my over sized ugly t-shirt. Him, in his wrinkled shirt and plaid boxers. I reached over and Nick kissed me. He let his tongue explore my mouth and I willingly accepted. He dropped the mistletoe and deepened the kiss. I put my arms around his firm neck and pushed my face into his. We fell of the chair we were sitting on.

He smiled at me “Merry Christmas,” he said

“Merry Christmas Nick,”
