Will You Love Me Forever?
by Makoto Kino
She
walked alone on the streets, still thinking of what had happened. Was
she too sensitive or silly? She could not give herself a satisfying answer.
***
"Will you love me forever, Zechs?" She asked, as he held her
gently in his arms.
"Why
did you ask that silly?" he replied, giving her a kiss on the hand.
"Just
answer me that." She sat up, looking at him seriously.
He
looked away from her. There was silence among them. She took a deep breath.
"You
don't?" she asked, there was a mixture of disappointment and sadness on her
face.
"I…"
He found himself at a loss for words.
"I got it." She opened the door and dashed out of the house.
***
She found herself stopping before the beach. She felt the breeze blowing on her face. It felt comfortable.
***
"Don't
make me repeat myself, Zechs," she told him as they were off, to complete
something impossible.
They
had been through many difficult things and it was not easy for them to get
together. They had been together for some time now. But it was her who admitted
that she loved him. She might never have heard him telling her he loved her at
all.
***
"It's
disappointing not to hear someone you love deeply tell you that he loves you
too," she muttered to herself, softly.
***
He
sat on the spot where he had held Noin, before she asked him if he’d love her
forever.
"Why
didn't I answer her?" he asked himself repeatedly.
He
felt lost. She was important to him. She helped him a lot.
"Am
I with her because I owe her a lot or I love her?" he wondered.
He
could not find the answer he wanted. He heaved a deep sigh and walked out of the
house, for a walk.
His
legs took him to the beach. He did not know that Noin was there before him. He
sat on the sandy beach, still thinking of what his answer should be.
***
She
felt lonely. It was a feeling she never had before.
"Maybe
I should not have asked," she smiled as she straightened her thoughts.
She
stood up from where she's sitting and as she was about to walk off, she caught a
glimpse of him.
***
He
stood up too, when he finally sorted out his thoughts. He noticed a very
familiar shadow heading towards him. It was her.
"I
was about to go back," she smiled, as he stood up before her.
"I
was about to go and look for you," he said, looking at her as she stood
before him.
"I'm
going back, to prepare dinner," she said, hoping that he'd hold her hand and
take her back to the little place they called their home.
"Wait
Noin," he pulled her arm, stopping her from walking away. "I got the
answer you wanted to know."
She
placed her finger before his lips.
"I
don't want to hear a negative answer." She looked down at the ground.
"It's
better for you to lie to me forever than hearing you tell me that you don't love
me at all."
He
smiled and took her hands away from his lips.
"There's
another person I love besides my sister." He looked at her tenderly.
"I will love you forever, Noin."
She
looked at him. She was happy and surprised. She felt as if she was the happiest
woman on earth. He embraced her gently in his arms.
"You
are one of the most important people in my life, Noin." He whispered into
her ears softly. "Forever."
