Leila Martin originated the role of Madame Giryin the Broadway company of Phantom and has also performed the role in the Los Angeles production. She has appeared in over a dozen Broadway shows, many Off-Broadway and regional productions, comercials, concerts, caberet, three soap operas (in running parts), as well as a few films to silly to mention. Favorite roles: Maria in West Side Story (national company), Mama Rothschild in The Rothschilds opposite Hal Linden, and a featured role in The Wall opposite George C. Scott (Broadway), Gwendolyn in Earnest in Love (Off-Broadway), Emily Stilson in the musical version of Wings (Pittsburg Public), and a Martian mother in the cult classic film Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Favorite directors: Hall Prince, Sir Peter Hall, Michael Kidd, Gower Chamption, Andre Serban, Ted Pappas and Jerome Robbins.
