Julie Schmidt
Julie made her professional operatic debut with the Greater Miami Opera in the American premiere of Rossini’s Bianca e Falliero. Ms. Schmidt has performed with the Santa Fe Opera, the Connecticut Grand Opera, Music Theatre of Wichita, Des Moines Metro Opera and numerous companies in the New York area. She was the swing in this company for three years, performing not only Carlotta, but Madame Giry and every female chorus role as well. Ms. Schmidt graduated summa cum laude from Wichita State University, receiving Bachelor’s degrees in voice and composition, and a Master’s degree in voice from Florida State University. In 1990, she was a recipient of the Kansas Cultural Trust Grant. In September, Julie gave birth to twin girls, Kaete and Isabelle. She thanks her husband and family for their constant faith and love.
