Helene Tintes

The American concert and opera singer, Helene Tintes made her European debut in Strauss' Elektra as Third Maid at the Staatstheater Kassel, Germany in 1994. She has appeared in many opera roles, including Carmen, Dorabella, Dido and Ottavia (I'Incoronazione di Poppea) on stage and in concert performance. She recently performed at the Theatre del Gran Liceu (Barcelona, Spain), in Strauss' Elektra under the direction of Peter Schneider. Ms. Tintes earned degrees in vocal performance from the University of Minnesota (M.M.) and in German Lied from the "Mozarteum" in Salzburg, Austria, where she was a Rotary Scholar from 1986-87. A versatile concert singer, Tintes has been heard in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, under the direction of Joel Revzen (Fargo-Morhead Civic Orchestra), Mozart's Requiem,(Salzburg) Haydn's Saint Hieronymous' Mass(Wien) , and Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzer (Italy). She recently toured southern Poland with a Liederabend featuring Mahler's Kindertotenlieder. The mezzo-soprano has won prizes at numerous competitions, including the "Metropolitan Opera". Helene Tintes has appeared throughout Europe in many Festivals, including "Fest in Hellbrunn" (Salzburg, Austria), the Austrian Premiere of Chailly's The Bald Soprano (Mrs. Smith) in Klagenfurt, Austria and in the World Premiere of Franz Hummel's An der Schönen, Blauen Donau (Irene) in Klagenfurt and at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Germany. She has toured throughout Spain (above all, in concerts of Spanish song, Baroque and Renaissance music), and has recorded in Spain, Switzerland, and in Austria for Radio and Television. In Musical Theater, Tintes performed in Vienna in Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera (Madame Giry) in over 250 performances.
